Welcome
For the past several months a team of ten people from Big Valley Grace Community Church(hereafter referred to as BVG) have been praying, preparing, and waiting anxiously for the honor and opportunity to travel to South Africa and serve and love a small community called Eersterust. It is one of the poorest villages in all of South Africa. We are going through His power, for His glory, in the name of His kingdom.
The great hope we find in Jesus Christ is through the redemption offered by Him. As Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:7-8, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.” It is with the message of redemption found through Christ that we travel to South Africa. It is that message that offers hope and life to the destitute and suffering.
I can only ask two things of you…
First, PRAY!!! There are countless items to be praying over. Pray God’s will is done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Second, DO something. I’ll be blunt and honest. America, and the West in general, is the most self-centered self-absorbed group of people in all history. We can stop acting that way. Another world is possible, we don’t have to live like this. Realize that every action we make throughout the day has an effect on the entire world. Realize that your voice is not lost in the choir of the status quo. Ideals are worth pursuing. We have a God of justice and mercy…and as His image bearers; we have a responsibility to justice and mercy as well.
We leave Modesto on June 4th, 2008 from BVG. We are meeting at 2:00pm for a time of prayer before. I invite and hope that all of you come down to the church and pray for the trip, for the children in South Africa, for His will. We return on June 20th.
I will be posting a blog of updates and thoughts during my time…so please come back and see what God is doing.
